smells great, but not great for intended use - Tara
Got this because it's recommended use is to help dry or excema plagued skin...however, it is very greasy and so far has not helped any...it's use as listed on the actual product is for cooking, not skin problems...smells great, though...but expensive for something that doesn't really work. ____________________________ Amber Pumpkin response: Coconoil coconut oil has so many uses, one of which is cooking but it is also the perfect moisturiser and massage oil. The following information is taken from the Coconoil website:
t is commonly known that coconut oil can be used as a skin moisturiser. However, what many people do not know is that coconut oil can also be used as an effective natural treatment for eczema as it contains no fragrance or chemical substances.
As you may already know, eczema is a condition where skin becomes visibly dry and itchy as well as inflamed. Eczema can spread to the entire body and without effective treatment it can worsen causing the skin to become even more irritated. The most common places on the body that eczema is found is on the inside of elbows and knees.
While the conventional treatment for eczema is via the prescribed method of steroid applications, the long term effects can lead to other future health issues. By opting for coconut oil as a treatment you will be choosing a more natural solution as it is highly nutritous and contains large amounts of fibre, vitamins and minerals. The coconut oil also contains large amounts of lauric acid which is renowned for its antiviral and antibacterial properties. It is also found in human breast milk and is one of the most essential fatty acids used in the building of an immune system.
When it comes to the benefits of using coconut oil to treat eczema specifically, the coconut oil will help heal and repair the skin as well as soften it. Results will also include a decrease in inflamation, dryness and flaking. For the best possible results, use Virgin Coconut Oil as it is unprocessed and therefore contains no bleaching, refining or deoderizing. Then, once your eczema has finally cleared, continue to use the coconut oil to maintain healthy, hydrated skin. You can use coconut oil to moisturise your entire body as well as your scalp and hair.
This is a great product, I use it to massage my baby with it. She had a very mild nappy rash and after only a couple of applications her skin appeared much less red. I also like it's very gentle fragrance!
